College Going Programs

Hermanxs  Connection to College is a college going program which was founded in 2006 to support Latinx youth to graduate high school with the purpose of providing holistic support for Latinx youth. Hermanxs aims to create a safe space for students and their families in a educational setting. Through the connection of an academic counselor, family engagement, resources and mentorship, Hermanxs provides wrap around services to our students to close the achievement gap.


How does Hermanxs help students?

  • Prepares high school students to transition into college. Sophomores concurrently enroll at Skyline College and take pre-determined coursework in various general education subjects until they are seniors
  • You earn high school and college credits
  • Arranges transportation to university visits, conferences, and workshops for high school students
  • Provides students with free tuition
  • Allows students to attain a semesters worth of college units while they are in high school
  • Provides students with direct linkage to support services at Skyline College, such as the Puente Project / TRiO / EOPS / Transfer Center / Skyline Promise and Summer Scholars.

What is Middle College?


Middle College students complete the requirements for high school graduation while enrolled in college courses on the Skyline College campus. Students take their high school courses that include self-development and college and career exploration. Students can save $25,000 in college expenses.

What is AVID? 

A four year elective class designed to assist traditionally underrepresented students in their goal of being eligible to apply to any CSU - UC or private school of their choice. AVID is a daily class, preparing students for college and beyond, focusing on study skills, organization, time management techniques, and college prep work.

AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
